Flying Bear Theatre Technicals
A few changes have taken place at Flying Bear Theatre since your last
visit. The projector now hangs from the ceiling in a permanent
location. Judith did a great job of aligning the projector so , no
matter what type of video we are watching, all we have to do is change
the aspect ratio (by remote control) and off we go with no fiddling
around to line things up. This also opens up some prime seating space
in the center of the theatre that we used to have to keep open for the
projector light beam.
We also improved the sound! We changed from an old Sony Receiver to a
brand-spanking new Yamaha RXV757, which got us 7 channel sound - plus a
sub woofer. More importantly, it got us auto-calbration so we no longer
have to depend on our ears to try and get things right - a microphone
attached to the Yamaha combined with the onboard computer in the Yamaha
sets everything up auto magically. It really works well. We also
added an old classic amplifier an Adcom GFA 555 to power the Left and
Right front speakers.
The speakers now consist of:
• 2 Polk SDA-2As for the left and right front channels
• A Polk RT55I for the Center channel
• Polk 10 inch Sub woofer
• 4 Polk Atrium 45s (2 each channel) for the Left and
Right surround
speakers
• 2 Polk Atrium 45s (1 each
channel) for the
Left and Right surround back speakers
Our video Projector is an Optoma H31 projecting onto an Matte White
Elite screen that is about 49 inches high and 87 inches wide (in
TV talk this is a 100 inch diagagonal screen) , our DVD Player is a
Samsung
HD-941. The video signal is sent to the projector digitally by an HDMI
to DVI cable, the audio is sent from the DVD player to the Yamaha
Receiver via fiber optic cable.
